4. Water treatment: Sulfur dioxide is an efficient and economical dechlorination agent used to remove residual chlorine from industrial wastewater or municipal sewage treatment.

5. Chemical synthesis: Sulfur dioxide is used as the basic raw material for synthesizing various sulfur-containing chemicals, such as sulfite, bisulfite, thionyl chloride, etc.

6. Refrigerant: Sulfur dioxide, due to its excellent thermodynamic properties, has been used as a refrigerant and is now widely used in special industrial fields.

7. Flue gas desulfurization: In the field of environmental protection, sulfur dioxide is absorbed by alkaline substances in flue gas to produce sulfites, thereby reducing the formation of acid rain.

Packaging, Storage, and Transportation

·Packaging form:

·Liquid sulfur dioxide: pressure resistant steel cylinders, tank trucks, and storage tanks.

·Steel cylinder specifications: typically welded steel cylinders with different capacities such as 40L, 100L, 800L, etc.

·Storage conditions:

·Store in a cool and well ventilated dedicated warehouse, away from sources of fire and heat.

·Avoid storing together with oxidants, reducing agents, and food chemicals.

·The storage temperature should not exceed 30 ° C.

Safety Notice and Operating Precautions

·Health hazards:

·Inhalation: Sulfur dioxide has a strong irritant effect on mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Inhalation at high concentrations can cause laryngeal edema, bronchitis, pneumonia, and in severe cases, pulmonary edema or even death.

·Eye and skin contact: Liquid sulfur dioxide can cause severe frostbite and chemical burns.

·Protective measures:

·Respiratory protection: In environments that may come into contact with sulfur dioxide gas, it is necessary to wear a self-priming filter gas mask (full face mask) or a positive pressure air respirator.

·Eye protection: Wear chemical safety goggles or a full face mask.

·Body protection: Wear anti-static work clothes and chemical resistant gloves.

·Emergency response to leakage:

·Quickly evacuate personnel from the contaminated area to upwind areas, isolate them, and strictly restrict their entry and exit.

·Emergency responders must wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

·Reasonable ventilation to accelerate diffusion. It can be diluted and dissolved with spray water.

·If possible, use an exhaust fan to send residual or leaked gas to the water washing tower or a fume hood connected to the tower.
